Description

Crispy Cajun Shrimp with Creamy Sauce is a bold and flavorful dish that’s perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. The shrimp are coated in a spiced, crunchy batter that locks in tenderness, while the creamy sauce offers a cool, tangy contrast with a hint of heat. This easy recipe is ideal for anyone looking for quick dinner ideas, satisfying seafood dishes, or a tasty party appetizer.

Ingredients

For the Shrimp:

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup cornstarch

2 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk

2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

Vegetable oil for frying

For the Creamy Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons sour cream

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust to preference)

1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

1 teaspoon honey (optional for sweetness)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel. In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs with buttermilk.
  2. Coat the Shrimp: Dip each shrimp into the buttermilk mixture, then into the seasoned flour mix. Press gently to ensure the coating sticks. Repeat for all shrimp.
  3. Fry the Shrimp: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil reaches 350°F (175°C), fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Transfer cooked shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate.
  4. Make the Creamy Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, hot sauce, Cajun seasoning, and honey (if using). Stir until smooth and creamy.
  5. Serve: Arrange the crispy shrimp on a serving platter and drizzle with the creamy sauce or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired.
