Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp yellow mustard
1/2 tsp dried oregano (optional)
1/2 tsp dried thyme (optional)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, thyme, and Parmesan cheese until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the pan or on the baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread half over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Brush with the remaining glaze 15 minutes before the end of baking.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm
