Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef (80/20 preferred)
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: fresh parsley or thyme for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Sauté the diced bell pepper and onion until soft, then set aside to cool.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cooled veggies.
- Shape half of the meat mixture into a loaf on a parchment-lined baking sheet or into a greased loaf pan.
- Create a well in the center and fill with half of the provolone and cheddar cheese.
- Top with the remaining meat mixture, sealing the edges to enclose the cheese.
- Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with herbs if desired.
