This recipe delivers a perfect balance of textures and flavors, making it ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or an elegant meal for guests. Serve it with roasted vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete dining experience.

Ingredients

For the Cod:

2 cod fillets (skin-on)

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Lemon Garlic Butter Sauce:

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

½ cup heavy cream

½ cup chicken or seafood broth

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cod: Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Sear the Cod: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Place the cod skin-side down and cook for 4-5 minutes without moving it. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same pan, reduce heat to medium and add butter. Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Add Liquids: Pour in chicken broth, Dijon mustard, and heavy cream. Stir well and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Finish the Sauce: Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and parsley. Stir and let it thicken slightly.
  6. Combine: Return the cod to the pan, spooning the sauce over the fillets. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Serve: Plate the cod and drizzle with extra sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley. Enjoy!
