Ingredients

1 lb white American cheese (or a mix of Monterey Jack and cheddar)

3/4 cup whole milk (or heavy cream for extra creaminess)

1/4 cup water (adjust for desired consistency)

1 tbsp butter

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/4 tsp chili powder (optional)

1 small can (4 oz) diced green chilies

1 tsp hot sauce (optional)

Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cheese: Shred the cheese finely to ensure even melting.
  2. Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add Liquid Ingredients: Pour in the milk and water, stirring constantly.
  4. Gradually Add Cheese: Add the shredded cheese a handful at a time, stirring until melted and smooth.
  5. Season the Dip: Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, and salt.
  6. Add Extra Flavor: Mix in diced green chilies and hot sauce if desired.
